ASC at HHSAA Championships (March 4, 5, 2022)

Congratulations to our ASC swimmers who competed in the Hawaii High School Athletics Association (HHSAA) Championship meet this past weekend at Kamehameha Schools Kea'au. Friday had the preliminaries and finals were on Saturday. 

Here's a snapshot of how our ASC members performed.
 
Girls Events: Ariana Hudgins and Sophia Jordan competed on relays for the HPA girls teams.
  • Girl's 200 Medley Relay: Maile, Ariana Hudgins (Sophomore), Phoebe, and Sofia Jordan (Freshman) - Improved 2.7 seconds! moving up from 19th to 14th.
  • Girl's 200 Freestyle Relay: Ariana, Phoebe, Maile, Phoebe: Improved 2.6 seconds, moving up from 16th to 11th, and were just .6 out of getting into the top eight. 
Boys Events
  • Sean Weyrick (Junior): 100 Breaststroke - posted a good effort in the final heat where he faced off with the eventual overall winner.
  • Lucas Duba (Sophomore): 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle - was right on his best performances individually.
  • Kekai Haines (Sophomore): 200 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle - was right on his best performances individually.
  • Nereo Loreto (Junior): 500 Freestyle: Swam to a personal best in the meet's longest race(5:08.
  •  Kouske Soler (Junior & Swim Captain): 200 IM (2:02.45)and 100 Fly (53.49), swam to two personal bests in the prelims, made it to the top eight for finals, and took the eighth position in each on the podium. Kosuke's 100 butterfly time also made a USA Swimming Senior Sectional Time Standard.
  • Boy's 200 Medley Relay: Mickey Petras. Sean (30.47), Ben Wyatt, and Joao Ribeiro finished 16th.
  • Boy's 200 Freestyle Relay: Joao (23.56), Lucas(22.46), Kekai(23.04), Kouske (22.32) improved 3.11 seconds and finished fourth on the podium.
  • Boy's 400 Freestyle Relay: Kouske (50.34), Nereo (51.12), Kekai (50.64), and Lucas (49.34, improved 4.08 seconds to finish seventh on the podium
